Paintings and screenprints
I painted landscapes in New Zealand. Here they are geotagged on a Flikr map.
June 24, 2012 These are sketches from a May 2011 hike on the Milford Track in New Zealand. My sketches are small so they can fit in a pack. They are all about 6”x 9” approximately. They are made to help me to develop a colour pallet . I also pack a camera to remember details that will help me finish a studio painting. This is a four day hike that starts with a boat trip across Lake Te Anau .The trail follows the Clinton Valley, climbs the MacKinnon Pass, drops into a beech forest in the Arthur Valley and is finished with a boat trip across the Milford Sound.

I layered 29 colours of lacquer ink on paper to make my 1990 screen print Spawning Salmon. Each slide in this slide show is an inking of that print. Each inking took a day to create the screen, mix the ink, pass ink through the screen and let the ink dry. 110 prints were made in this edition.
